洋葱放室内防不了感冒

  感冒猖獗时,有一则谣言在网上传播:把洋葱切掉两头放室内,它就能用气味杀灭细菌和霉菌;第二天早上看到洋葱变黑,就说明它吸收了空气中的病菌,可防感冒。真相又是如何呢?

  洋葱所含挥发性油中的含硫化合物有较强的杀菌作用,但这是浓度较高的洋葱提取物,单个洋葱所含的量达不到杀灭空气中细菌的浓度。另外,细菌的移动能力弱,不会“满屋飞”,只会随着微小的水滴传播,如打喷嚏时产生的飞沫。霉菌虽然依靠风力来传播孢子,但是它通常生长在潮湿环境中,且菌落一般都是黏糊糊的,直接通过空气传播十分困难。另外,切掉两头的洋葱第二天会变黑,并不是因为病毒,而是最常见的食品化学反应。洋葱断面与氧气接触发生氧化,之所以到第二天才发黑,是由于洋葱本身含有大量抗氧化物质,延缓了氧化过程,而不像土豆等一切开就变黑。

  不能否认,常吃洋葱有好处,能增强抵抗力、预防疾病,但将切开的洋葱放室内并不能起到预防感冒或流感的作用。感冒肆虐时,要常开窗通风,保持室内空气流通;多休息,充分饮水,及时增减衣物;注意个人卫生,回家后及时换衣、洗手、洗脸;外出戴口罩,尽量不到人流集中处,少接触感冒病人。
